♥ the history of apple pie ♥

They made waves on the scene in 2011, with their small collection of dreamy fuzzpop songs that bring to mind the likes of My Bloody Valentine and Yuck. They're back with the album Out Of View; due to be released on the 28th of January. They're as good as ever, infectious pop tunes drenched in Jerome's hazy, reverb drowned guitar noise (courtesy of his homemade pedal board) and Stephanie's girl-group-esque voice rising above with twee lyrics and tales of teenage heartbreak. They capture a raw, summery sound that sends you daydreaming of sunny festivals and kissing cute boys.

S.C.U.M announce split

S.C.U.M, who were not just one of my favourite bands but are among the best post punk bands around at the moment have just announced their split. I am distraught to hear this as their distinctive sound of swooping synths and raw guitars fronted by the unique voice of frontman Tom Cohen were a real gem among the current dark krautrock scene. Songs such as 'Cast into seasons' and 'Faith unfolds' are swathed in a gothic melancholy that contrasts with a swirling psychedelia of numbers like 'Amber Hands' and 'Whitechapel'. I sincerely hope that their small but beautiful discography will never be forgotten, and also that we will see the members again in their own solo projects.
